Bella
Bella is a diminutive of Isabella. Isabella is a variant of Isabel. Isabel originates in Latin language and means "promise of God". Ultimately, it is derived from Elizabeth, originating in Hebrew. Some sources suggest that Isabel is simply a Spanish and Portuguese form of Elizabeth. Most recently, the name Isabella was popularized by the character Isabella Swan in Twilight series written by Stephenie Meyer. Currently, it is a number one in the chart of popular feminine given names in the United States. Short form of Isabella (a beautiful name on it's own) and other names ending in bella, it is also associated with the Italian word bella meaning "beautiful". But I've got to warn you, a name like that means almost everyone's daughter, niece (and maybe nephew) will be bearing it. You knew there was a catch.

Who doesn't remember the sassy cheerleader from Glee named Santana. Santana is a beauty, destined to make any high school hallways shake with her attitude. This sassy name is surely one for the books. It is an elegant name, affiliated with a powerful female character. She embraces her role to spy on the Glee club, for her power hungry cheer leading coach. She later comes to find, that she actually has true friends in the Glee club and doesn't want to sabotage it anymore. Amaya
There are basically two etymologies for the name Amaya. For one, it’s the transferred use of a Spanish surname originating from the Basque region of northeastern Spain, derived from a location name, and said to mean ‘pleasant place’. It is also one of the oldest surnames of the Iberian Peninsula recorded as early as the 16th century as “de Amaya”. Our research also indicates that Amaya comes from “Amaia” which apparently means "the end" in Basque. The other source of the name Amaya is Arabic and apparently means “night rain”. In any case, Amaya is a recent coinage as a girl’s name and particular to the United States.

Dalilah
The name Dalilah has Hebrew origins from the name “Dlila” meaning "[one who] weakens." Not such a positive meaning, we get it. But once you’re familiar with Delilah from the Bible, then you’ll understand. The name Delilah is borne from the story of Samson and Delilah in the Old Testament book of Judges 16:4-20. Arguably the first femme fatale in human history (if you’re willing to excuse Eve) - Delilah is a person that is considered to have an irrevocably intense and deep desire, love and need for a stable and comforting family life. She is not a solo or isolated person and enjoys being in other people's company and she works incredibly well alongside others. Stella
The name Stella comes from the Latin word “stella” meaning “star” ultimately from the Proto-Indo-European root *stēr- meaning the same (Pok. 1028). A star is, of course, an astronomical object seen as a bright point of light against the night sky. The most notable of all stars is the sun, from which the earth receives most of its energy (it is also the closest star to earth). As a female given name, Stella was most likely popularized by the English poet Sir Philip Sidney in his 16th century sonnet sequence, “Astrophel and Stella” (translation: Star Lover and His Star) - Usage of Stella may have also been influenced by “Stella Maris” (Star of the Sea), which is an epithet of the Virgin Mary.

Brielle
This name is of Hebrew origin and means of God or God is my might. If you are religious this name may have a lot of meaning, but if you are not this name is still perfect for that bun in the oven. This is a name that your friends may have never heard of, but trust us, they will fall for this name. Brielle is a name that is growing very slowly in popularity, but we believe in a few years this will be super popular. This name may sound modern, but it is a traditional contraction of the name Gabrielle. Some people prefer Brielle while some like the name Briella instead, but either way it is super pretty!

Lana
Lana and Sveta are both short forms of the Russian name Svetlana derived from the Slavic “svet” meaning ‘light, shining’. The name Svetlana was popularized in the early 19th century Russia thanks to the poet Vasily Zhukovsky and his 1813 eponymous poem. In the ballad, Svetlana is the epitome of loyalty and obedience, and her movement from the dream world to awakening symbolizes the role of providence in our lives. Not only was “Svetlana” a landmark Russian poem of the romantic tradition, but it also gave birth to generations of women name Svetlana not only in Russia but other Slavic nations as well. Roxie
Roxanne is the English and French form of an ancient Greek name Roxana (Ρωξάνη) which was ultimately derived from the Bactrian-Persian Roshanak (روشنک) meaning “dawn” (or “bright, radiant one”). Roshanak was the daughter of a Bactrian (present day northern Afghanistan) nobleman who became the first wife of Alexander the Great around 330 B.C. after he conquered the Persian Empire (apparently he was completely infatuated with her). In other words, Roxana is a very ancient name! Rox, Roxie and Roxy are common nicknames. Are you looking for a name that will make your daughter stand out in a crowd? Look no further than the moniker, Roxie. It’s the shortened version of the name, Roxanne but can totally stand on it’s own two adorable feet. It’s the perfect title for a free-spirited little girl. Roxie was the name on everybody’s lips in the hit play, Chicago. People will feel giddy when they hear your daughter’s name.

Tessa
"Tessa" is a name of English origin, and it means "Harvester". Tessa is the playful version of the name Theresa and is such a fun moniker. Though it is the shortened diminutive, it is one of those monikers that demands attention. It somehow manages to be both feminine and strong at the same time. It came into play in the 1960’s and has steadily risen in the charts. Theresa became a popular name among Catholics so it spread across many nations and languages. Tessa (like Terri) would eventually form as nicknames for Theresa. A little girl given this name will be quite the diva.

Blake
Blake hasn’t seen as much success as a baby girl’s name as it has for boys. Technically speaking, the name is unisex since it shows up on both the male and female Top 1000 lists – however, historic usage couldn’t be more different. As a masculine name, Blake has been around for most of the 20th century; for girls, Blake didn’t come to the party until the 1990s. And even still back then she was unsuccessful and couldn’t maintain a position better than #926 out of 1000. Finally Blake disappeared off the girl’s charts in 1998 and just when we think it’s safe to call Blake a boy’s name again, it abruptly reappeared on the female list in 2011 (clearly influenced by the popularity of actress Blake Lively). It remains to be seen if Lively’s star-power is strong enough to continue the fan-based mimicry of her name for years to come. We’ll have to wait and see. However, we will say this: Blake is cool name for a girl.
14
Shyra
Shyra as a girl's name is of Aramaic origin, and the meaning of Shyra is "brightness". Shyra is related to the name Shera. It also sounds really close to the name Shara - meaning "princess; a fertile plain".

Lovena is pronounced Lah-Vee-Nah, and means Affection - Lovena is a rare first name for a girl in United States which is not even used for girls since 1977. Only 414 people have Lovena as their first name as of 2018. It is a very beautiful strong sounding name.

Layla
Layla originates in Arabic language and means "woman of the night". It has always been a very popular given name in the Arabic world but lately it has become fairly popular in the United States too. It was popularized by the song Layla, written by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon. According to the writers, the song was inspired by a Persian story about a young man named Majnun who falls madly in love with a beautiful girl named Layla, but isn’t allowed to marry her and so he goes crazy. It was made into a beautiful 12th century poem, too. ‘Layla’ was a good name for a heroine of this poem and song.

Evelyn
It means ‘life’ and ‘light,’ and comes from Ireland. The name was spelled Aibhilín and Eidhleann, and might come from the Old Irish word for ‘radiance’ or ‘beauty’. The British eventually got a hold of the name and changed the spelling. Alternatively, there is an Evelyn from German, meaning little bird, and it could also be from the Hebrew words meaning ‘life-bringer.’ Pick whichever meaning you want for your little Evelyn. Classy and easy to spell, people love it for the timeless sound. Believe it or not, it was traditionally a surname. It then became a boy’s first name, gracing people like Evelyn Baring, the Consul-General of Egypt from 1880 to 1907. But it became more popular as a girl’s name by the 1900s.

Emma
The name comes from the German word ‘erman,’ which means ‘universal’ or ‘whole,’ and it goes back a long way. The first Emma to get her names in the history books was a Viking queen from Normandy who was ruling in 1002 AD. It remained a common name in Europe for centuries, and it was consistently one of the 10 most popular names between the 1880s and the 1910s. The name plummeted in popularity after that, bottoming out at #458 in 1976. It’s been crawling back to its accustomed place ever since then. Whether the name makes you think of the spunky heroine in Jane Austen’s novel, the actress Emma Thompson, or the actress Emma Watson, you have to admit, it’s a catchy name.

Miranda
The name Miranda is derived from the Latin Mirandus which means 'admirable' or 'wonderful.' It was actually created by Shakespeare for the heroine in his 1611 play 'The Tempest.' It didn't, however, become a common English given name until the 20th Century. It's a name which is graceful yet simultaneously mysterious and strong. The majority of us will know Miranda Kerr as Orlando Bloom's ex-wife. But the Australian model has a long history in the modeling industry and holds many accolades to her name. She began modeling when she was just 13, and since 2008 has been consistently ranked as one of the highest-earning models.

Claudia
The name Claudia is the feminine form of Claudius, and it was very rarely used until the 16th Century. It isn't massively common but it is timeless, elegant and strong. I love the German pronunciation of KLOW-dee-a, though the English pronunciation of KLAW-dee-a is definitely favorable too. Claudia originates in Latin language and means "feeble woman". In Romamythology, Claudia was one of the Vestal Virgins, priestess of Vesta, Roman goddess of the hearth. More recently, the name was popularized by Claudia Cardinale, a famous Italian actress, as well as Claudia Schiffer, a German supermodel.

Naomi
Naomi is of Hebrew origin and means 'me delight' as well as 'pleasant.' You have to admit, it has a beautiful gentleness to it. In the Bible, Naomi was the mother-in-law of Ruth. The name itself used to be popular in Jewish community, and it wasn't until the Protestant Reformation that it came into more general use. Most likely it was popularized by the fashion model Naomi Campbell. Some common nicknames which I love, include Nay and Nomes (yes, you pronounce it the same as 'gnomes.') There's also Nay, Nao or Nomi.

Madison
Madison originates in English language and means "Matthew's child". It was derived from an English surname, the famous bearer being James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, and as a surname it is used until today. It can also be used as both feminine and masculine given names, currently it is one of the most popular names given to girls. Very probably it was popularized in the 1984 film Splash, where Daryl Hannah plays a mermaid that decides to call herself Madison after seeing the sign of Madison Garden in New York.

Gabriella
Gabriella is the Italian spelling of the Hebrew name Gabrielle, which means ‘God’s bravest woman’ (or something to that effect, at least, being the feminine version of the name of an archangel). The famous people who sport this name probably help its continued climb. For instance, Coco Chanel’s first name was actually Gabrielle, and there is the actress Gabrielle Anwar, who played Fiona Glenanne in Burn Notice. Another boost would be that you can nickname your baby girl ‘Gabby’ if you give her this name.

Serenity
Well, ultimately it comes from the Latin word serenitatem, which meant ‘clearness’ as well as what we think of as peacefulness. A similar word was used as a title for Roman emperors and popes. The French changed it to sérénité and used it to describe peaceful weather in the 1530s. They started applying the word to people in the 1590s and the English picked it up as a name for a girl. Now you, too, can join the tradition if you give this name to your baby girl. Serenity is the name of the spaceship from the show, Firefly, and the movie made from that show. Also, it’s the feeling of being at peace with the world: There is nothing to fight, and the universe is sending its love to you.
